IWSG: March, 2014-- Back In The Saddle

Look here, greenhorn, it’s only a horse.

That’s easy for you to say plus, look at the thing.....that’s one big horse. That saddle looks a little....strange, too.

Yeah, sure it’s big but ya rode it before….all ya gotta do is hop back up in the saddle, doesn't matter what it looks like. Once ya do that, the rest will come to ya.

Sure…if you say so…

Trust me, pardner.

Uh huh...

And, with that, I hop back onto my monthly foray into the area of the writing journey that could, possibly, bring some mental discomfort.

It’s time, once again, for an Insecure Writer’s Support Group post! The brainchild of Ninja Captain Alex J. Cavanaugh, the IWSG is a safe haven for those of us wanting to let loose our literary insecurities to an unsuspecting (o.k, that part isn't true...they know it's coming) blogosphere.

So, anyone who’s still following this blog knows it’s been no secret that I’ve been quite lax, lately, in my writing and blogging.  For a guy who had over one hundred posts last year, it’s a bit discouraging to look at my sidebar and only be logging two entries in as many months. Not that it's strictly a 'numbers game', I definitely think quality trumps quantity, any day. Like I've said before, it's just going to be a matter of me buckling down and writing. That's it.

Besides that, though, I really don't have much in the way of "insecurities" to speak of this month. I'm getting excited to be writing/blogging again and even editing isn't seeming like a trip to the dentist's office anymore.

With me, as always, it's just a matter of staying on course and getting/keeping organized. I'm looking forward to the day, though, when I can write about my insecurities revolving around whether or not people like the book I've just published.

Some day....some day.

I, too, am looking forward to that day Mark, for me and for you.
Until then, perseverance is the name of the game I think, getting down a few words each day and watching them grow.

Good luck with the writing again.

I look forward to that insecurity too. Well, kind of. I'm sure I'll be petrified when the times eventually arrives.

I agree - quality over quantity. I'd much rather read a quality post over several that aren't well thought out.

Best of luck!

Glad you're blogging again, Mark. In spite of the fact that I've now got the Gene Autry song in my head thanks to the title of your post. :D

Yeah, I want to trade insecurities, too. I want promotion insecurity and my book isn't selling like I thought it would. Bring it on!

Glad you're back in the saddle again!!! Just writing every day helps a lot - even if the progress is at a walk and not a trot. Ok, I have to stop with the riding analogy before I get way over my head.

Best wishes with all your writing! :)

IT's okay to be lax as long as it's not Ex-lax.

Howdy pardner,

I promise not to be a nag. Have you not been blogging? Never noticed! LOL?

Indeed, stay on that trail that has the destination of being organised.

Thanks for being part of the dedication that is IWSG aka "I Was Seeking Gary." I think I'm going to blush n' stuff, y'all and yee haa!

Gary :)

Well, if you need an insecurity to blog about, I guess you could worry about getting bitten by that horse.

Oh I'm so looking forward to posting about that insecurity brother. It's good to see a post from you. Hope all is well with you and your wife in your neck of the woods!

Hi Mark - yes like the others .. welcome back. Knuckling under is the order of the day .. and just doing a little all the time - still a break can make a big difference and give you that impetus to get on with it ..

Cheers Hilary

I'm also getting back into the blogging world (as of today, actually) so I know how you feel! Excitement is! Glad you don't have much insecurity this month; always good to hear that people are in a good place :)

Lax happens. And it must. This blogging business is demanding and saps a lot of writerly juice. I'm taking a break in May and going back to the good old days when I actually wrote nothing but books. I remember that well and with nostalgia.

Can I borrow the horse and the saddle? I'm thinking of riding off into the sunset.

I'm waiting for the day my insecurity comes from being so rich and famous that I'm bored all the time. I could live with that. Till then I'm happy with the ones I have. Thoughtful post Mark.

All of us have our challenges. All of us have to figure out a way to succeed. I hope you'll be going a to z again this year, because I really enjoyed last year's little known comic book heroes. Keep it up dude!
