IWSG: May 2014

This is another one of "those" months, as far as IWSG posts go. No real "news" on the insecurity front and, strangely enough, I'm o.k. with that. Don't get me wrong, there's still tons of insecurities that continue to nag me, but I've made peace with a few of them.

Sure, it makes for an extremely boring post about being an insecure writer but, on the other hand, it also doesn't have the air of something that's been "forced".

Still chugging along, albeit very slowly, on my WIP as well as still trying to devise an open ending to my original NaNo project from 2010.

Slowly...again, very slowly, both projects are coming along.

No "blogger burnout" after this years A to Z Blogging Challenge and, in fact, it's helped give me more impetus to write, if anything. That's always a good thing.

I've said it before and I'll continue to say it....I think some insecurity is good for the "writing soul". I thank Mr. Alex J. Cavanaugh for coming up with this great writing exercise and hope we can all overcome these insecurities.....at least enough to get our work published!

A writer needs something. I'm not sure if it's insecurity, necessarily, but something that causes pressure.

You're obviously in a good writing groove right now, so celebrate that - just chugging along without the drama is what will churn out great writing!

That last line nails it. Besides, a whole mew batch of insecurities comes along at that point.
I didn't burn out from this year's Challenge either. In fact, the first couple days afterwards were so quiet online, it felt weird...

Hey Mark,

Glad to hear things are moving along...

No insecurities or burn out... That's a very good thing.

I wish I could say that. But nothing I can't handle.

Also happy to hear that your passion for writing has returned...EXCELLENT.

Congrats on finishing A-Z and avoiding the burn out. I had to skip this year but fingers crossed for next year!

It's not such a bad thing to not be insecure. It's great to have a group like this to fall back on for when you are though :)

It's always nice to hear when insecurities are at a minimum. Enjoy it and enjoy the writing!

It's wonderful you've made peace with some of your insecurities. I have too, and like you, it's helped me write. Wishing you keep chugging away! :)

You're like the little engine that could!

Well he made, no doubt you will too. Just keep chugging!(Up the hill, not advising binge drinking)

In IWSG, no new I's is good.

I found the challenge encouraging in years past as well Mark. It moved us to post daily.

It's in the way that you use it.

I know that is a song lyric, but I can't think of the song right now. 80s I am pretty sure. Clapton? Heck, I don't know. My mind is mush.

Insecurity... it's all in the way that you use it. Good for you on using it to spur you onward.

It is always good to hear you're writing more. And the fact you didn't burn out during the Challenge was a plus. I read your reflections post. You gave me something to think about.

Sounds like you've found a productive gear in your writing and things are moving along nicely. Hopefully those insecurities stay away for a while!

Sounds like you are in a good place with your writing and blogging right now. Long may it continue. I always tell myself progress is progress even if it is small steps. Keeping moving forward is the answer to success. Best of luck, Mark.

Hey Mark,

Yes, lucky you, I have arrived at the unearthly hour of two thirty on a Sunday morning.

Boring posts are good. Might help me sleep.....sorry, where was I?

Oh yeah, keep chugging with your WIP, that sounds kinda' kinky dude.

Ah yes, the amazing alphabet challenge. The alternative to The Alphabark Challenge, 2014!

Of course, you must also thank me for IWSG aka "I Was Seeking Gary." There you go, I really need some sleep.....

Gary :)

I always love Gary's comments! Glad you don't have to blog about what we all carry around with us, those dastardly insecurities... I tried for the more uplifting tone this month...
