CassaStorm Cover Reveal/Healthy Writer's Club

It's always nice to be able to help out a fellow blogger, especially when they have a brand new book coming out. This isn't just any blogger, though.

Today, we're talking about the Wizard of the Written Word, the Grand Poo-Bah of Grammar, the Sultan of Synonyms, the Duke of the Dictionary....the one and only, the Ninja Captain.....

Alex J. Cavanaugh! <cue applause and fanfare!>

Alex's new book, CassaStorm comes out on September 17th and I'm honored to do a small part in helping him spread the word.

So, without further ado....I give you a sneak peek at the cover for....

CassaStorm

CassaStorm by Alex J. Cavanaugh
http://alexjcavanaugh.blogspot.com/

A storm gathers across the galaxy…

Byron thought he’d put the days of battle behind him. Commanding the Cassan base on Tgren, his only struggles are occasional rogue pirate raids and endless government bureaucracies. As a galaxy-wide war encroaches upon the desert planet, Byron’s ideal life is threatened and he’s caught between the Tgrens and the Cassans.

After enemy ships attack the desert planet, Byron discovers another battle within his own family. The declaration of war between all ten races triggers nightmares in his son, shaking Bassan to the core and threatening to destroy the boy’s mind.

Meanwhile the ancient alien ship is transmitting a code that might signal the end of all life in the galaxy. And the mysterious probe that almost destroyed Tgren twenty years ago could be on its way back. As his world begins to crumble, Byron suspects a connection. The storm is about to break, and Byron is caught in the middle…

Big time congrats to Alex on his upcoming release. The cover looks downright amazing and I'm sure it's going to be a huge success.

Alex is a heck of a guy and always there to lend support, advice, or to remind you to turn off your word verification on your comments.  Not that he had to do that for me, or anything.....ahem

Anyway, here's wishing Mr. Cavanaugh much success and best wishes, all around!

The Healthy Writer's Club

Friday also means another update for the ongoing saga that is, The Healthy Writer's Club.

Hosted by Shallee McArthur, it's a weekly roundup that lets us writers/bloggers, discuss what healthy choices we're making regarding diet, exercise, and fitness.....or what choices we should be making. While blogging and writing is hard work, to be sure, it doesn't really burn all that many calories or help tone the muscles. Getting out of the chair is just the first step....

This week, I actually dusted off the old weight machine and got in a good workout. Only once, mind you, but it's something more than I had been doing.

I'm still keeping track of my caloric progress via MyFitnessPal and it's been invaluable to me in regards to actually thinking about what I'm eating. It's a great tool, easy to use, and has a phone app, too! If you're looking for friends there, my name is mmeans68.

The more support, the better!

I hope you all have a great Friday and an even better weekend.

I should join the healthy writers' group because I definitely need to be making healthier decisions.

I've loved visiting everyone's blogs today and seeing support for Alex's book! What a fantastic community. Thanks, Marc!

Grand Poo-Bah...love it! It describes our Ninja Captain very well.

Writers...healthy...get up out of chair...
This will take some work to assimilate.

Mark Means said...

@M.J: I can say that it's helped motivate me. Especially when you read about what others are doing. You can do it! :)

@Al: It's tough, but worth it, for sure.

@Juliet: For all he does for the community, Alex deserves it, for sure :)

@Laura: Heh...getting out of the chair is the hardest part, I think :)

Congrats to Alex - love the cover, and looking forward to reading it!

Mark - I totally get the need to dust off the weights, and get moving. I've made a little progress this week - like a tiny bit. Walked three miles, rode the exercise bike once . . .have to join the healthy writers club next.

Congrats to Alex!

Holy crow I am so proud of you for working out. Maybe it was only once, but at least you did it!
Way to go Mark.

Julie Baswell said...

Congrats to Alex. I like that cover too. Yeah, I'm just as bad about the exercise thing. Maybe I should check out this MyFitnessPal thing.

Glad you're on track with the workouts. It does help to have support.
Thanks for helping with my cover reveal! Probably not really the master of grammar. Not even with all the help from my clones.

Love the Healthy Writers Club! Do you have a logo? Just stopped in to say hi and join your site.

cleemckenzie said...

Oops! Meant to say I'll get your logo. Of course, I see you have one. It's early. I'm still asleep.

Alex is getting around town today! :) He always is giving his time to others so he deserves all the press.

Mark Means said...

@Tyrean: It sounds like you made more than a 'tiny' bit of progress and good for you! :) Anything to get moving is a plus, in my book! It's easy to join and the dues are reasonable ;)

@Jaybird: Thank you very much, every little bit counts in action as well as support...I appreciate it!

@Julie: MFP is great for keeping track of what you're eating and, for me, that was a good first step.

@Alex: For all you do for us, it was my pleasure. Wishing you much success!

@C.Lee: Heh, no worries and thank you for joining. Hope the HWC helps out :)

@Misha: Oh wow, really? That's great and thanks to whomever nominated me :) I'm still making the rounds through my reader and will stop by soon. Thank you!

@Melissa: He sure is...you have to keep you eyes on the Ninja Captain :D He certainly does deserve it, I couldn't agree more.

Thanks for blogging for The Healthy Writers Club today. I wish there were more posts, and I wish writers were healthier than they are.

Mark Means said...

@Nancy: Thank you and, believe it or not, I -do- do the dusting around the house ;)

@Joylene: Totally agree!

@Tammy: Thank you much!

@Jolie: Glad to do it. I'll take any opportunity I can to help get into better shape :)

Alex is EVERYWHERE today! I would have nothing to post about for the Healthy Writers... I'm too lazy. Lol

I like coming here on Fridays, Mark, and enjoy your Healthy Writers entries. Well...all of them, whenever I come over.

And I'm not coming over just because you came and saw me...was heading over anyway to tell you congrats on the PFA. You and the other guys are some excellent company in which to be included.

Great that you dusted off the machine. I'm on the opposite end of the scale...trying to gain a few pounds. So I need to incorporate more work-out into my routine.

Mark Means said...

@Dani: Yes he is and, for once, it's not because he's commenting on everyone's posts. He gets around more than Santa Claus :) Hey, it's never too late and if I can do it, so can you :D

@M.L.: Same to you, as well. Congrats and, you're right, we're in some great company in the PFA category :) And, just for the record, I don't mind the reason why you stop by...just that you do and you enjoy what you see when you do. Always great seeing a comment from you and thanks!

And, were it possible, I'd gladly loan...or even give you...some lbs...I have plenty to spare :)

Unknown said...

Thanks Mark...I just wanted to emphasize how much I enjoy coming over, whether you visit my place or not. You always have something cool going on.

Golden Eagle said...

Congratulations to Alex! :)

I will have to check out MyFitnessPal. I use Fitocracy at the moment, but it doesn't track calories.

Mark Means said...

@M.L.: Thank you and much appreciated :)

@Golden Eagle: Sure, give it a shot..it's really simple to use. I think I signed up for Fitocracy and that's about as far as I got :)

Yay for Alex, and yay for you with the whole exercise and healthy eating thing! I'm busy eating chocolate at the moment, but don't tell anyone... Tomorrow, I'll be walking about 2 hrs with a friend - but after that I'll just buy more chocolate. Heh, heh, heh.

Nick Wilford said...

Congrats to Alex!

Good job on the workout. My only exercise this week has been walking my daughter to and from nursery (and carrying her a lot when she's tired), but something's better than nothing!

Hi Mark,

I see Alex is revealing himself..oops...revealing the cover of his novel all over the place :) I'm excited for him and delighted you posted up about it.

Healthy Writer's Club. Must contemplate that. For indeed, a healthy mind and body are conducive to being better prepared. Although, in my case, a cup of coffee and doing grammar anarchy works real well....

Take care, dude.

To September 17th -- and to Alex's unmitigated success!

So good of you to feature his cover, Mark. To the success of your own projects, as well!

It's so nice to see Alex getting a lot of attention today. The cover looks great!

Hi Mark, since we are fellow minions for the A to Z Blog Challenge, I thought I would stop by and visit your blog. NICE!!!

I've seen Alex's cover on several blogs today. SO great that he is getting the support. It's a wonderful cover.

Mark Means said...

@Lexa: Haha, yes, your chocolate fix is safe with me :D

@Nick: Thanks and, you're right, walking is doing better than nothing. It's a great start!

@Gary: Pimping a book for Alex is a no brainer. The guy's a huge help and does a lot for the blogging community. Glad I was able to help :) Hey, you've heard that coffee is now good for us, right? It's a step in the right direction ;) Take care, my friend.

@Suze: Thank you very much and glad to spread the word for Alex. He deserves it.

@Sherry: Agreed on both counts!

@Maryann: Always happy to have a fellow minion stop by and thank you :) I appreciate it.

Congrats to the Captain!
Oooh, Mark this sounds like a great idea! I have been indoor cycling and need to mix it up~ Thanks for sharing!
Happy weekend to you :D

Christine Rains said...

Yay for Alex! His new cover is awesome. And good for you dusting off the old machine. I really need to dig into the shed for my stationary bike. Or do something more than have toddler dance parties!

Mark Means said...

@Ella: Well, I can't take credit for the idea, but I do agree that it's a good one, for sure :) Let me know if you decide to switch up the exercises...I'm always interested in hearing about that kind of stuff.

Thanks and you have a great weekend, yourself!

@Christine: It's very awesome, for sure :) Nothing wrong with the bike and I hear chasing kids around burns quite a few calorie :D

Julie Flanders said...

I should try MyFitnessPal, I hadn't heard of that. I've been so lazy with the Healthy Writers, I'm vowing this week to be better. But then I've said that every other week too. I hope spring will help me get my butt in gear.

Congrats to the Ninja Captain on another success! :)

Mark Means said...

@Julie: I know, it's always easier said than done. Like I've said, MFP has been great for making me think about what I was putting in my mouth and how much. It's a great tool!

Mina Burrows said...

I do the workout thing a lot. I used to do it mainly for diet. Now it's turned into a stress reliever and great for clearing the mind for writing. :)

Mark Means said...

@Mina: Yes, it can definitely be a great stress reliever and the feeling after a workout can't be beat...not including being sore, of course :)
