Take A Sec And Thank A Vet...

Not really much has been going on at the old Means Ranch, at least anything blog worthy, so I wanted to just take a minute to thank all the veterans of our Armed Forces (of which my wife and dad are included), past, present, and future on this Memorial Day.

Without your service and sacrifice we wouldn't have half the freedoms we enjoy today.

So, while you're out there grilling some hamburgers, hot dogs, or whatever else tastes good over the open coals, please don't forget to remember those who helped make this country great.

Take a sec and thank a vet.

I also found this nifty little info graphic highlighting some Memorial Day facts and figures:

Since it's also Monday, I'll leave you a topical selection for Music Monday. Billy Ray Cyrus: Some Gave All

I hope you all have a safe and happy Memorial Day!

I was in Washington DC on Memorial Day 2 years ago , it was a wonderful experience and to walk through Arlington Cememtery was an awesome sight.

Amen! Freedom isn't free, and many men and women sacrificed to give us our freedoms, and many continue to serve today. My father is a veteran and I'm very proud of him.

Hi Mark .. it's a day for us all to remember - so many incidents that occurred at this time of year .. as well as the Memorial Day.

The blessings to all serving and those who have served, together with their families ... Hilary

Please thanks Mrs. Means for her service to our country and I hope you tell her to put her feet up and you'll take care of things today :)~

Off to our little town's tribute in an hour-- I look forward to it every year. It's a somber and soft-spoken tribute to those who have served and continue to serve.

I will be thanking my dad and father-in-law today as well as all those who served and are still serving.

As I blog hop around I see a lot of "thank-you" posts for Memorial Day. I'm from Canada so it's not a holiday here, but my fiance is in the Canadian Forces so I appreciate the sentiment none-the-less.

Hey, Mark,

Nice tribute!

Or military folks TRULY DESERVE this honor and SO much more! Their heart and courage is what makes our country so great!

Have a terrific day barbecuing in the Florida sun... We have none in Chicago today. LOL.

Thank you for your post. I love the graphic! As a wife and sister of veterans, I appreciate your reminding the folks that we are free because of the brave.

Happy Memorial Day! Thanks for the little fact chart. We're going off the charts and having brats on the barbecue today.

@Dee: Thank you and I sure will :)

@Sheena: Thank you and I'll join in that salute :)

@Elise: God bless your dad and I appreciate his service.

@Yvonne: That must have been awesome as well as awe inspiring. I'm jealous! :)

@Alex: So very true and we should be thankful for these brave souls every day of the year.

@Jeremy: I'll second that! :)

@Manzanita: Amen!

@Hilary: You're so right and thank you!

@Mark: Heh, I certainly will and please thank Mrs. Koopmans for her service, as well. My dad was a Navy man, so I know a little about that life. :)

@Valerie: The same to you and thanks! :)

@Julie: I hope it was a great one!

@Regina: Thank you for sharing, that's a great quote!

@Misha: Thanks and the same to you :)

@Brandy: Thank your fiance for his service. Just because it's not American, doesn't mean it's not appreciated :)

@Michael: Amen to that and I'll try to nudge some sunshine up your way :)

@Jenn: Thank you and we should take more time to thank our veterans, for sure!

@Christine: Nothing wrong with that and I hope they taste great :)

@Carol: Thank you and I hope you're having a great one, as well!

I think I may have been in D.C. at the same time as Yvonne! Crazy! It was either 2 or 3 years ago for Memorial weekend (we were out there for a wedding and made a tourist trip of it, as well). It meant a lot to me to visit the memorials on the mall. Having said that, I hope to never be there for a holiday again!!!

I'm not American but my grandfather was in the military and one learns to appreciate the dedication and loyalty of the people in the armed forces for their country. Nice post! :)

I forgot Billy Ray Cyrus sang that song. He did a good job with it too.

Your tribute was nice. :) I was happy to see so many people honoring the military yesterday.
