B is for: Bionic Woman

For those of your thinking today's "B" was for Brady Bunch, it's totally understandable and a very good guess. Of course, I had to throw a curve in there and, well,  I've always considered Lindsay Wagner a very "lovely lady" :)

Among the many of my childhood, television, "crushes", few ranked higher than Lindsay Wagner's, Jaime Sommers. I was always a huge Six Million Dollar Man fan (still am), so when Jaime Sommer's debuted, it was like icing on the cake.

Originally only meant to be a small role in a Six Million Dollar Man two-part episode, the response to Wagner and her portrayal of Sommers was so huge that the studio decided they had to bring her back. The only problem was that they had killed her off during her guest spots on SMDM. If Hollywood is anything, it's resourceful...especially when there are millions of potential viewers lined up. Sponsors love viewers and networks love sponsors, so Jaime Sommers, love interest of Col. Steve Austin and tennis pro becomes another bionic agent of the O.S.I (Office of Scientific Intelligence), posing as a school teacher on an Army base.

Later on in the series, they brought in a bionic (jaw and legs) German Shepard, Max, as a companion for Jaime.

Our family wasn't big on pets but, once, we got a German Shepard and I promptly named him (you guessed it).....Max.

Tune in tomorrow for more lovely ladies...three of them, to be exact.

That didn't even enter my mind. I watched it, but I always liked SMDM better.

Charlie's Angels seems too obvious... bah

You got me Mark. This was a good choice and sadly I guessed Bionic Dog, oh well. Thanks for checking out both my A-Z posts.

I just about remember this show! :)

LOVED her as a kid--she was more approachable than Wonder Woman. I remember my friends and I slo-mo running on the playground making that weird sound effect (ch-ch-ch-ch) that was supposed to indicate super speed. LOL.

I think I can guess what tomorrow will be. :D
I don't remember the bionic dog. I would have totally loved him.

I have seen re-runs. Still pretty cool from a role model perspective. Now I wish I had named my first dog Krypto.

I loved those shows too and Max. Would inflation make them billion dollar man and woman now?

Since I started writing my epidermis has become so thick that shots are impossible.

Bionic Woman! I love that idea. I want to be one, especially this month.

I had the Bionic Woman barbie doll. She was so cool. I wanted to be Jamie Summers so stinking bad. I would run and make the same stupid noises they made on the tv show. Pretty lame, right?

Never seen this one either. I feel like I need to watch TV more.

I used to watch both of these shows. I too, loved them. I loved there being a bionic WOMAN, who was also a hero and not a villain. She busted you know what, and was smart about doing it...

The Bionic Woman was awesome - Jamie Sommers was my hero! I had the doll, too, but remember being so disappointed with how she looked, nothing at all like the real one. Someone else commented how she used to run and make the bionic 'noise'; I did the same thing as I jumped off the couch. Her jumping skills were the BEST! Good memories!

I always wanted to be the Bionic Woman. I had all the moves, of course, and could make the sounds when I jumped. Surely that was as important as the moves themselves, right?

I had a crush on the bionic woman too!!

I LOVED this show (and the Six Million Dollar Man as well). Grew up on this stuff. She influenced the spelling of my daughter's name. :)
