Office Space....

Where the magic happens....sometimes.

I've mentioned, before, my pseudo-voyeuristic appeal to reading other people's blogs and one of the coolest things I like seeing is other folk's "creative areas"....or "office space", as some might call it. I wouldn't call it that, though....I hated that movie :)

Whether it's the place where they read, write, or even game, I like seeing how people personalize a space and make it their own.

The above shot is my desk where I read, write, and.....yes...game.  It sits in the corner of our "Gaming Room", with my wife's desk facing the opposite wall. It's great for late night or weekend World of Warcraft gaming or just relaxing while we peruse our favorite social media.

The only bad thing about this certain space is that there's not a lot of privacy. There's no door to close should I want things a bit more quiet, so I can work on some writing. It's nothing a nice pair of headphones and Pandora can't help with, though, so I can't complain too much. Besides, at this point, it's only my wife and I so there aren't really that many interruptions.

The room from a few other views....
Not much wall space left...

The wife's side of the room.

A few objects d'arte...or however you say it...

Fun and games...
One of the main objectives of the area was to have a place where we could come to relax that also would also help in jump starting the imagination. The trade-off of privacy for creativity was one I was willing to make, and the space is much larger than the spare room where my "office" was before. There's also the added bonus of not having to relocate every time we have visitors (which is quite often). Plus I can always turn on the stereo (I, usually listen to talk radio) or t.v. if I need some background noise that's not music.

So far, it's pretty much done what I've needed it to do and I'm happy with the results.

What's your "office space" like?

Nice setup! Dig how you've decorated the walls. And a big screen TV for gaming - nice.
I also have a big screen in my office, which also holds my guitar collection. That alone takes up almost half the room.

@Alex: Sounds like you have a very cool setup. Might be a good blog topic, eh? :D

Awesome space Mark. I see you're a Superman fan too!

Your space is so neat and uncluttered. Mine would terrify you. I have two rooms' worth of stuff in one.

You have kitties! Love the cat tower. We have two towers and I've been ordered not to buy anymore.

@Maurice: More of a Bat-fan, but I dig Supes almost as much :)

@Diane: Yes, I'm a bit OCD in striving to keep things as uncluttered as possible. Besides, I'm sure I'm not anywhere near as busy as you are :) Yes, we have one cat and my wife spent $100.00 on that tower that our cat barely sits on. I don't have the heart to try to get rid of it because her and her (recently departed) mother picked it out together.

Oh so clean... very cool with the poster art, I see the creative side being pulled out by every corner... I think I am inspired to share my office, I am going to give you credit.

My first thought was, "Your space is so neat."

I am looking at the disaster surrounding me and can clearly see that my space is very, very cluttered.

It is also in the living room and I have that same problem of privacy. But, I have found ways to cope... much like you.

Can I come mess up your desk a bit? It's too clean.

I, too, love seeing peoples writing spaces. Hubby and I play WoW. Our late night sessions aren't as late as they used to be but we're still on every weekend.

Very nice! Had you asked your readers to send in pictures, I'd be looking at a long weekend of cleaning. Don't know how anyone can get inspired without a disorganized mountain of reference material on every side, but that's just me...

What I did find inspiring, though, was the statement of your objective, to have a place to come to relax that also would also help in jump starting the imagination. Armed with that, the next time I start shoveling, I will have more in mind than just finding the desktop!

Thanks...

I wouldn't get anything done with that big screen just calling for some movie watching, LOL. My space is much more cluttered but it is private.

Awesome space. I love the superhero decor! My desk is covered with notes at the moment and I think a lollypop stick left by my son earlier today. Yuck.

@Jeremy: Thanks and I'm looking forward to seeing your space!

@Robin: "Clutter" is one of my few OCD triggers...I'm not a big fan of it.

@Andrew: In my defense, it's also a new desk, so... :P

@S.P.: Yes, sadly, we're not on as late (or as much) as we used to be. Glad to see a fellow WoW player out there :)

@Jack: Thanks and glad I could be a little bit of inspiration to you :D

@Susan: Every once in a while I'll sit back with some Netflix or a DVD, but I try to keep it to a minimum.

@Christine: I'm gathering from all the comments that I need to get busier ;) Hopefully, soon!

Looks like a great space with fun decor! I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought your workspace was more tidy than most. I can't put things away because I forget about them immediately. It makes for some tidy drawers but messy surfaces.

Your space is so tidy! Love the decorations on the walls. I can close my door to indicate privacy, but my walls don't reach the ceiling, so I can't actually block out sound without headphones. I do love my office, though. Thanks for sharing your space!

I love your walls! It looks like a great space to write in.

Mine is much like yours. I always had this vision of my "office" being adorned with Gone with the Wind posters, but I'm surround by Marvel and DC in our "Danger Room" AKA the computer/gaming room.

Oh, mine differs from yours in that it is NEVER clean. It's the hub for my teens and my 20 (Caleb gets insulted when I lump him in as a teen!)

Dig that crazy Marvel love on your walls. Awesome. Above my desk is a Disneyland map from 1968. To my left is a print from Disney's Peter Pan. On my shelves are Star Wars memorabilia. To my right - the fridge. It's my happy place.

Hi Mark - love the way you've sorted the office out - creative with the art and your gaming 'tools' .. and then so neat and clean looking ... I am in the middle of a clean out once again (slow - but getting there) ...

Yours inspires me .. cheers Hilary
