Leapin' Liebster/Music Monday

A couple of weeks ago I had two blogging buddies bestow upon me the coveted Liebster Award For Excellence In Blogging And General Awesomeness.

O.k, I made up everything past the word 'award'......anywho...

The totally terrific Tara Tyler and the linguistically lucid C.Lee McKenzie , both of whom shared in being in my top ten A to Z Challenge themes, were both kind enough to think of me and my lil ole' blog for this award. And, for that, I graciously thank them....

Thank you, ladies!

As these things go, questions are asked, answers are given, and blogs are nominated, so onto the questions.

Tara wanted to know:

1. What's your nickname? (make one up if you don't have one) My wife calls me "Babe", though I'm still not sure if that's because I remind her of a blue ox or a pig....

2. What genre do you read most? Sci-fi

3. What celebrity would you love to meet? If we're talking any it would be Bob Hope...hands down. If we're talking living celebrities....Lynda Carter.

4. What is your favorite age? Honestly, I've loved them all once I got out of my twenties.

5. Facebook or Twitter? You could have phrased this as "A) Facebook or B)...." and I would have said "B"! I use Google Plus as my main means of social media-ing.

6. What awesome thing will you do when your book is published? Give a copy to my parents...I might even sign it :)

7. What book would you like to see turned into a movie? George R.R. Martin's Wild Cards series.

8. Where were you born? On a doomed planted circling a red sun...

9. Name a place you'd like to visit some day. Area 51

10. Are you a Summer, Winter, Fall, or Spring? Spring!

11. Any regrets? A few...

Lee rebelled, a little, and only asked five questions. She was curious as to the following:

1. Close your eyes. Make a wish. What did you wish for? A happy, healthy, family for my wife and me.

2. If you could do one thing differently what would that be? Finish college.

3. You have month to do whatever you want, wherever you want. Money's not a concern. I'm paying. :-) What would you do? Where would you do it? I would want to spend a month in a little hut on a beach, somewhere. My wife and I hanging out in the hammock and sipping pineapple juice....just relaxing.

4. Do you dream? If so, what's your favorite dream? One where I have powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal man!

5. What's your favorite thing to do when you're not reading, writing, blogging, sleeping? Playing games....board, card, or computer.

Again, a big thank you to Lee and Tara!

Now, taking a cue from Lee, I'm going to rebel a little and not nominate any blogs for this award, but put it out there that, if you've never received the Liebster, you take it as your own. :)

Oh, but don't think you're just getting away with it scott free....oh no. I have a few questions for you to answer, should you snag the Liebster for yourself.

Since they were so good, I want you to pick five questions (in total) from those asked by Lee and Tara and answer them. Simple enough, right?

And, since it's Monday, it's time for another musical offering to get those toes tapping and the blood pumping.

Today it's Loverboy with Lucky Ones

Have a 'lucky' Monday!

Area 51 - you are indeed a science fiction geek.
And you'd want Lynda Carter in her Wonder Woman outfit I assume?
Congratulations on the award!

Congrats! Loved your answers to all the questions- always fun getting to know you better. Have a great day! :)

Congrats on your awards! Laying in a hammock sipping pineapple juice sounds like my sort of fun too!

Congratulations on the award! Excellence in Blogging and General Awesomeness? Well that makes it a lot more interesting and special. And still think it would be well deserved, ha!
Area 51. I would like to see that too. And also the hut by the sea (not with you and your wife of course). Maybe Bali or Bora-Bora. It would be great. :D

You are excellent in blogging and general awesomeness!

You crack me up. Lynda Carter, eh? I agree with Alex's comment. That would be no fun unless she was in her Wonder Woman outfit.

M.J. Fifield said...

Lynda Carter is a great celebrity choice.

And I've never heard of GRRM's Wild Cards series. I must look this up immediately.

Melissa said...

Two awards? Congrats!

For me, it would be Red Skelton. ;)

Mark Means said...

@Alex: Hey, I'd bet she still look great in it! :)

@Rebecca: Thank you, it was fun answering them and have a great one, yourself :)

@Suzanne: Thanks and I'm sure that scenario is something a lot of us could agree on!

@Yvonne: Thank you very much :)

@Jeremy: Thanks and my pleasure. I like what you're doing over there...looking good!

@Al: LOL...thanks and I think Bali and Bora Bora would be great locales too. (With our respective wives, of course) :)

@Valerie: Haha, thank you!

@S.P.: You're too kind, thanks! :)

@Robin: LOL...well, my second choice would have been Lee (Six Million Dollar Man) Majors....not in a Wonder Woman costume, of course =)

@M.J.: It's a great shared world anthology series by some great sci-fi authors, edited by Martin, and based on their Superworld RPG game world. Very cool stuff!

@Melissa: Oh yeah....Red Skelton would be another great choice. Good call!

Tara Tyler said...

awesome!!
love the answers! great stuff!
sci fi and bob hope and linda carter
and i need to check out that wild card series - martin is a heck of a writer!

Jeremy [Retro] said...

I knew that I liked you... Lynda Carter is lovely... and she was part of the Smallville culture...

response: I am thinking to do a series of who's who on Smallville connections... like Martha Kent, was Lana Lang in the third film... or the voice of Jor-El was Zod in the first two films... there are quite a few...

Congrats on the award. We play a lot of board games in my house. I think my husband dreads hearing "Baby," because he knows it will be followed by a request for him to do something.

Congratulations on the awards! Virtual hugs from fellow bloggers are the best. :)

Congrats on the award Mark and Bob Hope would be hilarious. Good choice.

Samantha May said...

I'm about to get into my twenties...now you have me worried :D

Staying at hut on the beach and sipping pineapple juice all day sounds like my kind of paradise. I'm in!

Mark Means said...

@Tara: Haha, thank you! Well, GRRM is, mainly, the editor of the series, but he does contribute a few stories too. It's an 'alternate history' type world where superheroes (and villains) are real and how that would affect things. Very cool stuff.

@Jeremy: Sounds like a great subject and something I'd be very interested in reading. Go for it! :)

@Diane: Thanks and, yes, I know how your husband feels...lol.

@Julie: Yes, they are :)

@Maurice: Thank you, he's always been a favorite of mine :)

@Samantha: Oh, don't worry...that was just and I'm sure you'll make way better choices than I did at that age =)

Sheena-kay Graham said...

Congrats on your awards. If we meet one day maybe we can play Monopoly.

Mark Koopmans said...

I know I'm late, sorry!

My favorite answer was to Lee's first question - good on ya, mate:)

And, while I've never been to Area 51, I have visited Rosswell, New Mexico on several occasions - fantastic place (and I'm not even a Sci-fi dude:)

There was even a Wal-Mart (a Wal-Mart !!!) that used to have a UFO sticking out of a wall (so awesome!!)

Morgan said...

I'm totally LAUGHING at your favorite age answer... SO FUNNY... I'll tell you, thirties have been amazing so far! And already, SO MUCH BETTER than my 20's!

Jeff Hargett said...

I'm certain you were given the coveted Liebster Award For Excellence In Blogging And General Awesomeness. No other reason exists! (At least you wouldn't spend a month trying to do with the freebie month!)

Jeff Hargett said...

That was supposed to read 'spend a month trying to figure out what to do with the freebie month.' Perhaps I should disengage for the evening. :)

Haddock said...

Agree on point No 4 :-)

Hey Mark,

Alliteration alert always aware.

Congrats on receiving the 'Lobster Award', or whatever it is :) And to think Tara and the lady who looks for alligators overhead, would bestow the lobster upon your good self. Did I see mention of that ridiculous alphabet challenge? One moment please....Argggghhhhh!!! Sorry about that.

What say we go to Area 51 and throw a Frisbee in front of one of their closed-circuit cameras.

That Lee is such a rebel! Ah yes, Loverboy! Another fine Canadian band, eh. Talking about "Working for the Weekend"....

Take care, Mark.

Sadly, I must go.

Gary :)

Brandon Ax said...

Congrats on the awards.

Loved the answers. The choice for Lynda Carter would be in star spangled spandex?

Also still laughing at the blue ox or pig.

Hey they made Game of Thrones we can at least try to hold out breath for something from Wild Cards.

Mark Means said...

@Sheena: Thank you and that sounds like a plan :)

@Mr. K: Nope, you're right on time...and thank you :) Oh yeah, Roswell would be another great place to visit. I know my wife would love it...she used to love the t.v. series =)

@Morgan: Hehe...yes, I think like wine and cheese, we get better with age :)

@Jeff: LOL...no worries and, strangely enough, that first sentence made sense to me :)

@Haddock: Thank you and that seems to be consensus, as well!

@Gary: Well, I was planning on passing the award onto you, but I have more insidious plans afoot...muahahaha!! (o.k, that was a little creepy, sorry :P ) I think the frisbee stunt might land us in the local hoosegow, but it sounds like fun. Take care of yourself, my friend!

Mark Means said...

@Brandon: Hey, if she was willing to bring out the old costume, I certainly wouldn't complain :D You know, I've heard that HBO was looking to bring a 'as of yet unnamed' "other" project from GRRM to the screen and there was talk that it could be "Wild Cards." I've already warned my wife that, if this happens, we'll be picking up HBO. :)

Julie Flanders said...

I cracked up at the blue ox or pig LOL. I love George RR Martin but haven't read Wild Cards. I need to rectify that.

Congrats on your awards!

Julie Dao said...

I LOL'ed at the "Babe" answer also. Great to learn more about you, Mark! I hadn't heard about George R.R. Martin's Wildcards series, so I had to look that up. I could see that becoming a movie, what with the superhero craze lately. Wishing you and your wife a healthy, happy family as well!

Mark Means said...

@Julie F: You should definitely give Wild Cards a read, I think you'll like it :)

@Julie D: Haha...yeah, my wife thought it was funny, too :) Yes, with the popularity of superheroes, these days, I'm surprised they haven't snatched it up, yet. Thank you, Julie, I appreciate it :)

Christine Rains said...

Congrats on the award! Wild Cards is an excellent choice. I'd love to see that as an on-going show, actually. I'll be answering Tara's questions on my blog tomorrow. :)

Elizabeth Seckman said...

Blue ox or a pig...someone spiked your pineapple juice!

Congrats on the awards; you're so worthy!

~Sia McKye~ said...

That was fun reading Mark. I had to laugh over, "On a doomed planted circling a red sun..." lol!

Bob Hope, good choice,he was a fascinating man and quite the humanitarian. To do comedy well one has to understand people very well. He did.

Hey, I'm with you on the idea of a hut on the beach--no hurricanes please--just relaxing with my husband. Sounds heavenly.

Love the beach and family dreams! And area 51 might be cool . . . although I've driven around in desert areas before so maybe I should say really hot?

Love your answers and hope you are having a great day!

Your answer to the first #1 made me laugh. I'd love to visit Area 51, but only if I had an insider give me a personal tour. I'm still trying to find the right connection to give me a tour of NORAD.

Congratulations on the Liebster!
